I purchase filets frozen, however fresh would be even better! I used frozen Mahi Mahi from the seafood freezer of my grocery store and thawed it overnight in the refrigerator.

The ingredients needed to make Pistachio Crusted Mahi Mahi:
  1. Prepare 6 , 4oz Mahi Mahi fillet fresh or frozen (thawed & dried)
  2. Make ready 1 lime (squeezed)
  3. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. Prepare 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  5. Get 1 teaspoon chili pepper
  6. Get 1 garlic clove (minced)
  7. Prepare 2 tbsp olive oil
  8. Make ready 1/2 cup roasted shelled pistachios
  9. Take 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Mahi mahi fillets are encrusted with black and white sesame seeds, and pan seared. The sauce is rich and creamy, and flavored with soy, ginger, shallots, and shiso (a Japanese herb related to basil and mint). Mahi-Mahi does not have the "fishy" taste that some seafood has, the nuts add just the right amount of crunch…. and the Sweet Chili Lime Butter Sauce is. This Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi is so delicious and super easy to make.

Steps to make Pistachio Crusted Mahi Mahi:
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. (this step is optional but believe me worth it) Place pistachios, breadcrumbs, paprika, chili pepper, salt, place on a parchment covered baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 10mins. (doing this allows the flavors of the spices to be released)
  3. In the meantime in a small bowl combine; lime, paprika, chili pepper, garlic, salt and olive oil and set aside
  4. Take your pistachio breadcrumb and spice mixture in a blender and blend until you have a chunky consistancy (kind of resembling course salt) place in a shallow plate or bowl when completed
  5. Brush lime mixture over the fillets leaving alittle extra for later to drizzle ontop
  6. Cover the fillets with the pistachio coating. Drizzle the remaining lime mixture ontop. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 mins until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.
  7. Serve with your fav side. For this recipe I used lemon spinach orzo.

Mahi-Mahi does not have the "fishy" taste that some seafood has, the nuts add just the right amount of crunch…. and the Sweet Chili Lime Butter Sauce is. This Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi is so delicious and super easy to make. We used Macadamia nuts, Gluten Free Panko, Mahi Mahi, Olive Oil. Ok Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi it is! 🙂 So I have a new love, Macadamia nuts! I bought a bag a few weeks ago for the first time just to try.
